Now we have had our first day in Ho Chi Minh City (still called Saigon although the name was changed in 1976). It was brilliant hair highlights sunshine and about 32 degrees with a bit of a tropical humidity. After breakfast we took a walk into the city center. We have never seen so many mopeds ever. It is a uppevelse to just watch the traffic and then it's exciting to cross a street but we learned the trick after a while. Today's mission was to do some shopping, both the stuff that really needed, such as a pair of shorts and unnecessary things like handbags and jewelry. Exhausted by the heat and shopping, we sat in a street corner and took us a drink, typical for this city.
Here in Vietnam is the currency Dong and you really get to see up with all zeros. 100,000 VND is 42 SEK, so if you buy something a little more expensive so we're talking millions. In the afternoon we relaxed for a while at the pool and we took the opportunity to talk with a representative of the tour company and just like that we had booked some excursions. Fun!
The dinner was served at a restaurant that we can not decide if it was Typically Vietnamese or if it was the kind Korean. Middle of the table was a large pot over the fire and cooked food while it was occupied. There was a waitress who tinkered and tweaked with the pot all the time and made sure we had overflowing bowls. It was served chicken, meat, vegetables and mushrooms. Now we talk sponge squared. Our waitress could unfortunately not so much English hair highlights but we understood after a while that the fungus was their specialty.
