NANUET   — A state Supreme Court jury in New City heard opening statements and testimony Tuesday in the trial of Shmul Dym, who’s charged with sexually abused two young brothers. Dym faces two counts of sexual misconduct against a child, selsun blue a felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. The sentence upon conviction of the top count ranges from probation to seven years.
During jury selection, Dym’s lawyer, Kenneth Gribetz, asked the potential jurors if they would be prejudiced by Dym being a Hasidic Jew and liking to rub the feet of young boys. Prosecutor Patricia Gunning plans to have the brothers, both under the age of 11, testify, along with an expert on the culture of Hasidic Jews.
