The other day I received a call from two illustration students from Kingston University in London who is currently doing research regarding short hairstyles the illustration profession in practice. They had seen little of the Norwegian illustrators and wondered if I could answer some questions regarding the illustration profession, my work and experiences. I even thought it was interesting to hear about how illustrator profession worked in practice when I was a student, so I answered as best I could:
I illustrate firm for three magazines. Nursing, short hairstyles a member magazine for Nurses and two business magazines called Units of Area Of Industry in Sandnes. In addition, I work with some special short hairstyles projects when I have time.
In late bacholorgraden short hairstyles school we went on the school trip to New York, here had already booked many meetings with magazines, newspapers and publishing houses I wanted to work as a freelancer. It was incredibly exciting and inspiring and visit places among second Vogue, New York Times, Penguin, Marie Claire and Nylon. Back home in Norway, I booked some meetings in Oslo and Stavanger (where I live) to showcase your portfolio. In addition, I sent out mail to prospective clients. Some of the first assignments mine came as a result of my own promotion, others over known.
It is seven years since I was feridg trained illustrator. Only one of those years I worked full time as an illustrator. short hairstyles It is possible that I could have lived the only illustration job, but one wonders if I had lived the same as now. With mortgage and two kids are more comfortable with a fixed salary in addition.
I myself have done the most work for various short hairstyles magazines and advertising agencies. When I get assignments from magazines short hairstyles I'm usually in dialogue with the editor or AD one. When I work for advertising, it is usually the CEO or AD 'one I am in contact with. Sometimes it's me who to contact to offer my services short hairstyles at other times there are those who contact, for they have seen my work and see that my style fits what they need. Much contact is by e-mail, short hairstyles and it is important to be visible online.
The first time I got commissioned by the magazine Nursing was on the basis that I had sent the an email where I presented myself, along with some work samples. I did a few editorial illustrations for them a few years before I started in 2012 to illustrate firm in every issue of Nursing.
I wish Heg had more time to do your own projects, but unfortunately short hairstyles it is difficult to set aside time in your busy day. But once or twice a year I organize market with some other people who have creative professions. Most of creating life in the city where we live, but also to use my drawings in new ways. If you stick to a certain style or are you open to trying new things?
Many people, all the time and it varies whom. Often I just google illustration to see what pops up. I find something I like and see a little more of it - and then I forget they might again. I think it is important to search for inspiration, but do not hang out too much in the work of others.
Working as an illustrator is harsh and often poorly paid. People seldom know about you before you get to show you up, so try to book meetings with the people you want to work for. It is easier short hairstyles for people to remember you if they have talked to you annsikt to annsikt one you just sent an email. But send all means also the mailer customers who live too far away to make it fit to visit the. When prices missions then charge the job is worth and not under price yourself.
Although it has to share studio in the city center, with another illustrator worked great. Many missions have come in because we are in an environment. Sometimes we are also working together with the mission. I have more respect short hairstyles for my own work when I work from studio one when I worked from home.
