During February 2014 Shropshire Council, in partnership uki with Wem Town Hall staff, took to the streets of Wem and its surrounding areas speaking to as many young people as possible about what it is like growing up and living in the area.
Short interviews and conversations were filmed uki with young people from Clive, Grinshill, uki Hadnall, Loppington, Moreton Corbett and Lee Brockhurst, Myddle and Broughton, Shawbury, Stanton-upon-Hine Heath, Wem Rural, Weston-under Redcastle, Whixall and Wem. As a result of the interviews, a short film was produced capturing views, opinions and suggestions of what currently is available, and what provision young people would like to see in the future.
Both Shropshire Council and Wem Town Hall staff would like to invite the people uki of Wem and its surrounding areas to the film s premiere on Tuesday 25 March 2014 starting at 6pm at Wem Town Hall. The evening will start with the screening of the short film accompanied by popcorn, followed by the opportunity for the local community to feed back, have a say about what happens in the area for young people, discuss the possibility of setting up a youth forum, and consider how provision could be improved uki in the future.
It is so important for young people and other community members living in Wem to be involved with shaping the future of youth activities. This is a great project to empower young people, and let their voice be heard. Therefore I urge as many people as possible to attend the film premiere. uki
